Spylaw is halfway between Belford (on the A1) and Wooler (on the A697).
If you are coming from the south it’s slightly quicker to continue up the A1.
This is how to find Spylaw:
From the centre of Belford, take the B6349 westwards towards Wooler, which is a turn from the main road passing through Wooler.
The road will pass the Co-Op on the left hand side.
Stay on the road, past the school and up the long hill, passing the turn to the left.
Continue past the woods to the top of Belford Moor, and take the right turn onto a minor road.
Follow the road for a mile or so, as it goes down the far side of the hill
Pass the left turn as you go down the hill.
After the road has levelled out, at the cross roads turn left past the Old School House.
Continue for half a mile, past the left turn signposted South Hazelrigg.
After another half a mile you will see Spylaw on the left hand side, standing on its own with a low red roof.
From Wooler, turn eastwards from the A697,across a narrow iron bridge, onto the B6348 (opposite Farm to Freeze.
Continue on the main road for about three miles - don't take the left turn at the bottom of the hill which goes over the very narrow bridge.
The road winds up the hill - as the road levels out, take the left turn before the woods.
Follow the road down the hill and up the other side.
Stay on this road as it passes over a narrow bendy bridge.
Continue for another mile, passing the turn to the left after the bridge.
At the cross roads, turn left - you will see a phone box just after you have turned, on the left hand side.
Continue for another half a mile, and you will see Spylaw on the right hand side, on the bend in the road.
